The fragmentation will still occur, but the atl1 driver won’t spew the error message that contributes to network slowdown. Please let us know your results.
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. I’d like to get this triaged and reviewed. Will try custom module build next.

If my Linux box also has its MTU size set tothen inbound and outbound packets will be fragmented at the DSL router so it can add or remove its 8 bits.
I was able to write on it only using samba protocol while NFS was causing nautilus to hang and the transfer bar was freezing.

Once you’ve tested the upstream kernel, please remove the ‘needs- upstream- testing’ tag. To make this even more fun, every linyx of fourth reboot it works and the network interfaces stays up.
